Hardly a month goes by without some new scandal and some new argument for how best to supervise elected officials and staff members. The proposed solution is not for smaller government but for better supervision (i.e., larger government).
Smaller government is less expensive, and budgets associated with smaller government are easier to balance.
Those who advocate for the alternative paradigm say “Let’s reduce what politicians control so that there would be less to oversee, monitor, and supervise.”
Let’s reduce what politicians control.
